Spent two weeks in Ortakent, Turkey with the girlfriend. Went on one of these Nielsen (sic) holidays one of the Beach Plus resorts. Wanted to go to Bitez but the girlfriend (Mon) wanted to do waterskiing so we went to Ortakent resort about 5 miles from Bitez on the Aegean sea.

Windsurfed nearly every day in a range of conditions. Learnt some freestyle stuff on days where wind was lighter and can now helitack, etc. Was mainly sailing a Carve 145 though also the Carve 131 and some bigger boards with daggerboards as well. Used sail ranges from 5.0 to 7.2. Equipment was pretty good but maybe not enough kit if the hotel was fully booked (was half empty while we were there).

Learnt to Wakeboard as well while I was there. Part of the Nielsen holiday is that you can have up to 3 wakeboarding/waterskiing goes per day. And they start you off on the boat with the bar and then stick you on the rope behind the boat. Very easy to learn and will probably help when I try my kitesurfing again.

Very proud of Mon who had only tried windsurfing once before and managed to get her RYA level one there. Was impressed as me and her were racing a circuit and she was tacking/gybing/close hauling, etc. Said I would get her a wetsuit if she passed he RYA1, dammit, so now I'm gonna have to get her one. She's interested in doing some windsurfing here in UK as well so thats a great bonus for me who wants to get out more often.

Anyway I wore a shortie in Turkey but a lot of people were just in board shorts/rash vests guess I don't like the cold hehe. I kinda recommend Ortakent for windsurfing but the wind was not as reliable as Egypt in October last year (Dahab).

Got home and now Mon has chickenpox so I have to stay in and be a nurse groooowlllll.

Hope everyone is OK.
